What is SB 1211

The short version.

California's SB 1211, effective January 1, 2025, lets multifamily property owners build up to 8 detached ADUs on a single multifamily lot. Local building departments must approve compliant applications under a 60-day ministerial clock. Surface parking does not need to be replaced.
